Migaloo (“whitefella” in some Aboriginal languages) is an all-white humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) that was first sighted on June 28, 1991.
Migaloo is a famous white humpback whale. He is not a true albino but is considered a “hypo-pigmented” humpback due to a genetic condition that causes a loss of pigment, though his eyes are brown. He is the most well-known white whale in the world and has special legal protection in Australia.
